The Bloomberg Student Center is opening in phases, starting with access for students, faculty, and staff only. So, a J-Card is required for access.* As we grow into the full vision for the space, we’re working toward welcoming our neighbors and creating opportunities for connection with the Baltimore community in the future.

Parking & Directions

Getting to the Bloomberg Student Center

Address: 3290 N. Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21218

The Bloomberg Student Center sits at the heart of the Homewood campus—easy to find, impossible to miss. Designed to be a natural crossroads of campus life, it’s nestled between the Beach and the Brody Learning Commons, where conversation, creativity, and community naturally converge. Its striking architecture and expansive glass façade signal what’s inside: a place built for connection, expression, and discovery.

With a centralized campus location and a variety of inroads, it’s easy to stop in for a morning coffee, attend a club meeting, or host a campus event.

Arriving by Car

From I-83 (Jones Falls Expressway)

  1. Take Exit 9A – Cold Spring Lane East
  2. Turn right onto Roland Avenue, which becomes University Parkway
  3. Turn right onto North Charles Street
  4. Continue approximately half a mile
  5. The BSC will be on your left, just before the 33rd Street intersection

From I-95:

  1. Merge onto I-695 W toward Towson
  2. Take Exit 23A to merge onto I-83 South
  3. Follow the I-83 directions above
Arriving by Public Transportation

Baltimore’s public transit network and JHU’s shuttle system make visiting the BSC even easier.

  • MTA CityLink Purple and Route 51 both stop near the Homewood campus
  • The JHU Blue Jay Shuttle and Homewood-Peabody-JHMI routes serve students, staff, and faculty daily with stops close to the center

Check the Hopkins Transportation website for route updates and shuttle schedules.

Campus-Walking Directions

From the center of campus, head north toward the Beach. The BSC rises just beyond it, marked by its open-air entry plaza. If you’re coming from Gilman Hall, Brody Learning Commons, or the library, you’re just a few minutes’ walk away.

Parking Information

Visitor and event parking will be available nearby. We’re finalizing dedicated parking areas and accessibility drop-off zones; check back soon for updates. In the meantime, public metered parking and campus garages are located within a short walking distance of the building.
